Attack on health secretary's house, AC (Land) thrown to pond by beating

Several hundreds miscreants have made attack on health secretary Abdul Mannan’s village home at Katiadi upazila in Kishoreganj.

The incident took place between 9:30 am and 11:30 am on Saturday centring an under-construction health clinic in Chandpur village of the upazila.

At that time, Katiadi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ashraful Alam was severely beaten and at one point, he wan thrown into the pond by the assailants.

Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon Md Mujibur Rahman said he was on the spot. At one stage of the attacks, he somehow got into the car and left the scene in self-defense. 

At least 11 people, including an engineer in charge of the under construction community clinic, were injured in the attack.

Abdul Mannan alleged that the local (Kishoreganj-2, Katiadi-Pakundia constituency) MP, former IGP Nur Mohammad, directed his people to carry out the violence with vandalism, assault and threats. 

However, in response to the health secretary's allegations, MP Nur Mohammad said that as a government official, he occupied the Waqf land and did whatever he wanted in the area. He is even running a community clinic by occupying the lands of others and shrines that led to happen the incident. As the MP of the area, this work of the locals is indirectly put on me, added the lawmaker.

On information, Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam, Superintendent of Police and several other officials of different upazilas of the distict rushed to the spot.
