Housewife raped at gunpoint

A case has been filed against Morshedul, 17, for raping a housewife, 18, at gunpoint in Rangpur city.

The rape victim's husband filed the case with the Haragach police station on Thursday morning, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Karim.

According to locals and police sources, Morshedul had been harassing the wife of a day laborer in Sahebganj area of Rangpur city for several days. A man died near the house on Wednesday night and the family members, including the housewife's husband, went there. Taking this opportunity, Morshedul entered the house of the housewife alone, tied her face and raped her at gunpoint.

Morshedul's family has been threatening the victim's family since the incident, alleged the victim’s family.

Rezaul Karim said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused. The raped woman has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for examination.
