2 killed as bus ploughs into waiting passengers

Two women were killed as a bus ploughed into them while waiting for a bus to back home from a relative's house in Dhaka's Dhamrai.

The accident took place at 6:30 pm on Tuesday at the Bathuli bus stand on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Dhamrai.

The deceased were identified as Jahanara Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rashid of Saturia village in Saturia upazila of Manikganj and her daughter-in-law Maryam Akhter, 22.

The injured were identified as Jahanara's grandson and two others, including a van driver named Zahirul Islam. Fire service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.

Golra Highway Police Station OC Monirul Islam said the killer bus was seized and the bodies of the deceased were recovered.
