Sylhet jolted again by two earthquakes

Two earthquakes were felt in Sylhet within a minute and a half.

At 6:29 pm and 6:30 pm on Monday, two earthquakes shook Sylhet, Sylhet Meteorological Office senior meteorologist Sayeed Ahmed Chowdhury told The Daily Samakal.

He said the magnitude of an earthquake was 3.8 on the Richter scale. It originated in the northeastern Sylhet region, 188 km from Dhaka.

After the earthquake, panicked city dwellers came out of their houses and took to the streets. Many people closed their shops and ran down from the multi-storied buildings.

A couple of days ago, Sylhet also experienced successive tremors .
