Two die in fire at Hashem Foods factory in Narayanganj

Two workers have died in a fire at the Hashem Foods and Beverages factory in Narayanganj's Rupganj. 

Abdul Al Arifin, deputy director of the district fire service, told The Daily Samakal that the deceased were identified as Swapna Rani, 45, and Mina Akhter, 33.

He said the fire broke out at Hashem Foods and Beverage Factory in Karnagop area of Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 5:30 pm on Thursday. 

Upon receiving the news, 11 units of fire service from Demra, Kanchan reached the spot and are putting out the fire, he added.

Arifin said fire service personnel are working to rescue the workers trapped in the building.

Swapna Rani, wife of Yati Sarkar, is a resident of Sylhet and nd Mina Akhter, wife of Harun Miah, hailed from Golakandail Nutun Bazar area of Rupganj.

The 15 injured workers have been sent to local and Dhaka hospitals, said Fire Service Officer Abdul Al Arifin.
