If I do misdeed, I will also be punished: Mayor Sadiq Abdullah

Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, mayor of Barisal City Corporation and general secretary of the city Awami League, arranged a press conference on the attack on the UNO residence.

He said, “There was a need for a proper investigation into the incident. If I found guilty in the trial, I will resign from the party post if necessary.”

At the press conference, he requested the administration not to harass him. At this time, he instructed the cleaners to return to work.

On behalf of State Minister Zahid Farooq Shamim, a group of Jubo League-Chhatra League leaders went to the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises at 10 pm on Wednesday to remove the banner-festoon on the occasion of August 15. 

At that time, the on duty Ansar members prevented them from entering the government office without permission. At one stage Barisal Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Munibur Rahman appeared there, the activists of Jubo League, Chhatra League got involved in an argument with him. At one point, Ansar members opened fire as they tried to enter the UNO residence. Leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliates clashed with the police till 2pm.

Sadiq Abdullah has been made the number one accused in the two cases filed in this incident.
