4 to die for killing Kushtia sub-registrar

A court in Kushtia has sentenced four accused to death and one to life imprisonment in the murder case of Sub-Registrar Nur Mohammad Shah.

Kushtia Additional District and Sessions Judge (First Court) Tajul Islam handed down the verdict on Tuesday.

The judge read out the verdict in the court with the presence of five accused.

The convicts are Saidul Islam, Faruk Hossain, Kamal Sheikh alias Kamal Hossain, Mashiul Alam alias Babul alias Bablu. 

Monwar Hossain alias Dablu has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to court sources, Kushtia Sadar Sub-Registrar Nur Mohammad Shah was hacked to death by the convicts on the night of October 8, 2018 at a rented house at Babar Ali Gate in Aruapara area of Kushtia city.

The next day, Kamruzzaman Shah, brother of the deceased, filed a case with Kushtia Model Police Station accusing unknown persons. Later, on January 18, 2019, the police investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against the five accused.
