2 killed in Comilla road crash

Two people, including a driver, were killed and another was seriously injured when a covered van hit an auto-rickshaw parked in Comilla's Sadar Dakshin Upazila.

The accident took place in Bhatpara area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 7:30 am on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Jamir Hossain, 32, son of Hanif Miah of Bhatpara village in Sadar Dakshin upazila and Mozammel Haque, 30, son of Ershad Miah of Dhanpur village.

The injured, Md Eshaq, 70, was rescued in critical condition and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Mainamati Crossing Highway Police SI Khorshed Alam said the driver of the covered van fled the scene after the accident. The covered van was taken to the police station and preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.
