Awami League leader hacked to death in Noakhali

An Awami League leader was hacked to death at Badi Gachtala in Mirwarishpur village of Noakhali's Begumganj upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Abu Chayed Bhuiyan Ripon, 48, No. 1 joint-general secretary of Mirwarish Union Awami League. He is the son of late Rafiq Bhuiyan of Bhuiyan Bari in Talua Chandpur village of the same union.

Police on Thursday morning recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy.

At the time of the murder, the miscreants looted two and a half lakh rupees and three mobile phones belonging to Abu Chayed. Police and the victim's family could not immediately be reached the reasons behind the killing.
