Awami League leader shot dead in Rajbari

The miscreants shot dead Abdul Latif Mia, president and former chairman of Banibah Union Awami League in Rajbari Sadar.

Golam Mostafa Latif, chairman of the Banibah Union, said he was shot dead on his way home around 12pm on Thursday. 

“People in the area heard the sound of 5 rounds of bullets. He was later rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College. He died on the way to Dhaka for further emergency treatment,” he added.

He said members of the police and other law enforcement agencies were already on the scene to monitor the preliminary samples.

Golam Mostafa Latif said that Abdul Latif was a candidate of Awami League in the UP election held on November 10 in Banibah Union. 

Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police Md Salah Uddin said, "Our police force is on its way to the scene. Attempts are being made to reveal the cause of his death. However, we are primarily focusing on elections and trade disputes.”
