Two killed in diesel-laden ship fire in Sugandha river in Jhalokati

Two crew members were killed and at least 10 others were injured when a diesel-laden ship Sagar Nandini-3 caught fire on the Sugandha river in Jhalokati.

Shafiqul Islam, an official of Jhalokati Fire Service and Civil Defense Station, told The Daily Samakal that the fire started at around 8 am on Friday while working on the pump in the engine room of the ship. The fire then spread throughout the ship, leaving one dead at the scene.

Fire service personnel rescued the burnt ship crew and took them to hospital, he added.
