Fire at jhoot warehouse in Chittagong

A fire broke out at a jhoot warehouse in Atura depot area of Chittagong around 5:15 am on Thursday.

According to local sources, a fire broke out in a three-storey building of Atura Depot in an abandoned garment warehouse of a garment factory. Later, fire broke out in a few more jhoot warehouses nearby.

Farid Ahmed, deputy assistant director of the Chittagong Fire Service, said seven units were working to control the fire.

There are several jhoot warehouses together. Fire service personnel are rushing to bring the fire under control as there is a huge pile of jhoot clothes.

No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.

It is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
