Resorts, restaurants, house gutted in Sajek Valley fire

Three resorts, a restaurant and a house were gutted in a fire that broke out at around 3:30 am on Thursday in Sajek tourist area of Rangamati's Baghaichhari upazila.

The resorts burnt down by the fire are Abokash, Megh Chut and Sajek Eco Valley, the name of the restaurant is Maruti. Also, a house belonging to a man named Zakaria Lusai was also gutted.

Initially, the amount of damage caused by the fire has been fixed at Tk3.5 crore.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sajek Police Station Nurul Anwar said the fire originated from Abokash Resort around 3:30 am on Thursday. Upon receiving the news of the fire, the fire service members from Dighinala with the help of the army and locals brought the fire under control at around 5:20 am.

“Three resorts, a restaurant and a dormitory were gutted in the blaze. Some nearby resorts were also partially damaged in the blaze,” he added.
