2 killed in electoral violence in Satkania

Two people were killed in violence in the Union Parishad (UP) elections in Chittagong's Satkania on Monday.

A teenager named Tasib, 13, was killed in Nalua union of the upazila, and Abdus Shukkur, 40, was killed in Bajalia union.

Tasib was hacked to death outside the board office centre of Nalua Union at around 12 noon on Monday. His father's name is Jasim Uddin. He was in seventh grade student.

Nalua Union 6th ward UP member candidate Mizanur Rahman told The Daily Samakal, “Followers of the two chairman candidates were fighting outside the centre. One side thought Tasib is someone's supporter and cut and injured him. He was later taken to Satkania Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.”

Meanwhile, Abdus Shukkur, who was shot dead in Bajalia Union of Satkania, is a follower of Tapas Kanti Dutta, the chairman candidate of the boat in this UP.
