2 siblings burnt alive in Chittagong fire

Two siblings were killed in a fire at the house of a man named Mohammad Idris in West Kaharghona of Saral Union in Chittagong's Banshkhali upazila around 10:30 pm on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Minhaj, 12, and Ruhi Moni, 3.

According to the locals, the house of Mohammad Idris caught fire around 10:30 pm. At that time, other members of the family were able to get out, but Idris' two children could not get out as they were asleep. 

Officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station Mohammad Kamal Uddin said a case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the death of two children in the fire.

Nurul Bashar of Banshkhali Fire Service Station said that the fire was extinguished before they reached the spot. Two bodies were recovered from the spot.

The fire might have been started by an electrical short circuit, he said.
