At least two people, including a woman, were killed and at least 12 others injured when a passenger bus fell into a ditch on the east side of Mohanpur Bridge in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district on Saturday morning.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chirirbandar Police Station Bazlur Rashid confirmed the matter and said that it is believed that the accident took place due to sleepiness of the driver.
The identities of the dead were not immediately available, he said adding that six of the injured were admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
According to police and local sources, a Hanif Paribahan bus heading to Dinajpur from Dhaka fell into a ditch in the morning.
On information, the police and fire service members went to the spot and rescued the victims with the help of the locals.
