Two killed in Rangpur bus-truck collision

At least two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck at Rangpur's Mithapukur Shathibari petrol pump area around 5:30 am on Friday.

Pirganj Baradarga Highway Police Station in-charge Shahjahan Ali confirmed the casualties.

He said a passenger bus of Mayer Doya Paribahan from Dhaka was heading towards Rangpur. The bus collided head-on with a truck carrying potatoes coming from the opposite direction near Mithapukur Shatibari petrol pump around 5:30 am on Friday, leaving two people dead on the spot.

Five of the injured have been shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition, the police official said.

The OC further said that the bodies of those killed in the accident have been recovered and brought to the police station. Their names are not yet known, he continued.
