3 killed in JSS-Mugh party gunshot in Rangamati

Three people have been reported killed in a shootout between the Santu Larma-backed JSS and the Mugh Party in the new Kechipara area of Rangamati's Rajsthali upazila.

The shootings took place in the new Kechipara area between Rajbila Union in Bandarban district and Gaindya Union in Rangamati district around 11am on Tuesday.

Police have not yet reached the spot to recover the bodies from the spot.

According to local sources, the Mugh Party abducted a motorcyclist from Rajbila Union in Bandarban around 10 am on Tuesday. During the abduction, a shootout took place between JSS and Mugh Party in New Kechipara area of Ward 6 of Gaindya Union in Rangamati Rajsthali Upazila, leaving three members of the Mugh Party dead.

The army arrived at the scene after the shooting and has tightened security around the area.

Sadar Police Station OC Rafiqul Islam said, "I have heard about the shootings. However, I don't know about the details. A police team is being sent to find out whether the incident is in our area.”
