Hindu house vandalized for allegedly hurting religion on Facebook

Locals have attacked and vandalized the house of a Hindu youth in Morelganj of Bagerhat on charges of insulting religion on Facebook.

The incident took place at Amarbunia village in Nishanbaria union of Morelganj upazila around 10pm on Monday.

After the incident, 23-year-old Kaushik Biswas was arrested and taken into police custody, said Bagerhat Superintendent of Police KM Ariful Haque.

He added that seven people have been arrested so far in this incident. The operation is going on to arrest the rest of them.

The arrestee Kaushik Biswas is the son of Ramni Biswas of Amarbunia village in Morelganj upazila.

The attackers alleged that the post was posted insulting Islam from his Facebook ID.
