Kalbaishakhi storm kills 3 of a family in Jagannathpur

A woman and her two children were killed when a tree fell on their house in Sunamganj's Jagannathpur upazila on Thursday morning as Kalbaishakhi storm blew over the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Mausma Begum, 35, wife of Harun Miah of Chakbaniapur village in Kendua upazila of Netrokona, their daughter Mahina Akter, 4, and one-year-old son Hossain Mia.

Patli Union Parishad panel chairman Nazrul Islam confirmed the deaths of three people.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jagannathpur Police Station Mizanur Rahman said police were on the spot to recover the bodies.

According to police and locals, Harun Mia of Chakbaniapur village in Kendua upazila of Netrokona was living as a caretaker at the house of Bulu Mia, a UK expatriate from Sulemanpur village in Patli union of the upazila.

Harun Mia’s wife Mausma, daughter Mahina and son Hossain died on the spot as a tree fell on their tin-shed house when a Kalbaishakhi storm swept over the upazila in the morning.
