300 poor get Iftar for one week in Parbatipur

Some 300 underprivileged people in the Parbatipur upazila in the district were given Iftar items for a week.

DoNation, a Facebook-based volunteer organization, handed off the Iftar items during an event held on the grounds of the Parbatipur train station on Friday afternoon, which was organized by Bangladesh 88' Charity Forum with the help of the Parbatipur Young Stars Club.

According to a news release issued today, the iftar products were distributed to 300 physically handicapped and floating individuals, railway coolie workers, senior folks, and destitute and troubled people.

Five kilograms of rice, one kilogram each of fine rice, black gram and Khesari pulse and puffed rice, 400 grams of Lachha vermicelli, 500 grams each of sugar, edible oil and dates were distributed among each person as Iftar items. 

Syed Apan Ahsan, Executive of DoNation Foundation Trust, attended the function and distributed the Iftar items as the chief guest.

Presided over by President of Young Stars Club and General Secretary of Parbatipur Press Club Md. Amjad Hossain, Admin of Bangladesh 88' Charity Forum Mahatab Liton attended the function as special guest. 

After distribution of the Iftar items, as many as 300 hundred more poor people were given ready Iftar items at Parbatipur railway junction for the 12th consecutive day.

Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, DoNation distributed Iftar items to 500 distressed, physically challenged people and workers in Dinajpur, Rangpur and Panchagarh districts.

At the same time, a total of 3,600 extremely poor people were already given ready Iftar items routinely at Parbatipur railway junction during the last 12 days with 300 people daily.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Apan Ahsan said the program was aimed at standing by the people in need.

"If every affluent person in the society comes forward and stands beside the poor and distressed people, it might be a great example of serving suffering humanity," he said.
