Litchi production in Panchagarh overtakes last year yield

Litchi, a delicious fruit, has arrived in local stores, and the farmers of Dinajpur are happy because the yield this year has beyond their expectations.

According to officials from the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), commercial litchi farming began roughly ten years ago and has been steadily increasing year after year.

Litchis have been planted on 1000 hectares of land in the district this year, up from 850 hectares last year. According to officials, this year's projected output per hectare is 525 tons.

According to unofficial reports, the Litchi is being grown this year on about 1500 hectares of land. Litchi is grown in five different varieties by local farmers. These are the native China 2, 3, and 4 types, as well as Bombay. China 2, 3, and 4 are hotly anticipated by the markets. A bundle of 50 pieces of local variety litchi costs between Taka 100 and 150 in local markets.
