Farmer electrocuted in Rangpur

A farmer was electrocuted in village Moubhasha Bamontari under Gangachara upazila in the district on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge of Gangachara Model police station Md. Dulal Hossain said the deceased was identified as Mahfuzar Rahman Mafu, 50, son of late Toffel Uddin of the same village.

Mafu went to irrigate his paddy field using water from an electricity-run irrigation pump near his house.

"Due to carelessness, his hand got tangled in the electric wire of the water pump. He died on the spot," the OC said, adding that the body was handed over to his family members.
