17 get life-term for killing father, son in Khulna

A Khulna court has sentenced 17 people to life-term imprisonment for killing father and son at Terokhada upazila of the district in 2019.

Judge Md Nazrul Islam of Khulna Special Trial Tribunal pronounced the verdict in presence of all convicts on Sunday.

The court also fined Taka five thousand each, in default, to suffer one more year in jail. 

The convicted criminals are chairman of Chhagladah union parishad S M Din Islam and his associates Md Abdur Rahman, Jamir Sheikh, Sheikh Saiful Islam, Khalid Sheikh, Eskendar Sheikh, Jashim Sheikh, Hossain Sheikh, Ziarul Sheikh, Baharul Sheikh, Abbas Sheikh, Wahidul Gazi, Khairul Sheikh, Keramat Mallick, Mahbur Sheikh, Babu Sheikh and Nur Islam Sheikh.

The court also acquitted two people - Abu Sayeed Biswas and Ayub Sheikh - as the charges against them were not proved.
