Happy Birthday, Nayak Raj!

 

A three-day special screening festival is currently underway on television to celebrate the 75th birthday of Bangladesh’s first bonafide film-star Razzak, fondly called ‘Nayak Raj’.

 

Organised by Channel I, it started on Thursday and will continue till Saturday by showcasing some of his best films and arranging special programs where he will be honored in ways, reports UNB.

 

As he cut a cake at Channel I and the program was telecast live. Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, special assistant to the Prime Minister, attended the program and conveyed greetings to the hero on behalf of the head of the government, Prime Minister Sehikh Hasina.

 

Born on January 23, 1942 in Kolkata, Razzak has starred in over 300 Bengali and Urdu films from a career that started in the early 1960s.

 

His first big break came from Zahir Raihan’s ‘Behula’, which brought him stardom.

 

He won the national film awards 5 times for Best Actor, alongside numerous other awards.

 

In 2015, the government honored him with the Independence Award for his contributions to the Bangladeshi films.
