'Revival of the film industry is urgent to preserve our culture'

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu recently said revival of the film industry is very urgent to preserve our culture, reports the UNB.

 

He made the remarks in an Annual Meeting of Bangladesh Motion Picture Exhibitors Association in the city last week.

 

“We will ensure good films for the audience. We will try to arrange some donation and installment for buying modern equipment for hall owners,” Inu said.  

 

He added good films are the only ingredient to attract the audience and will play an important role to inspire them.

 

“We will provide digitalized system with low cost for making good films. We have partly set up digital system in the FDC (Film Development Corporation). We are aspiring to produce joint venture movie to attract the audience,” said Inu.

 

Speakers said only good films can revive the film industry. Donations can support but cannot revive. 

 

Some days ago, 1150 cinema halls existed but due to lack of good films they are now down to only 150. Some more halls will be shut down within some years if good films are not produced, speakers said.

 

President of Bangladesh Motion Picture Exhibitors Association Saiful Islam Choudhury and General Secretary Mian Alauddin were present in the meeting. 

 

Some 82 picture exhibitors were also present there from different areas of the country.
