Pratyusha suicide: Police question boyfriend Rahul Singh

Pratyusha Banerjee, TV actor of Balika Vadhu fame, committed suicide by hanging at her home in Mumbai on Friday. However, it seems like there is a lot more to the story than what is being let out, reports the Hindustan Times.

 

Pratyusha was declared dead at around 7:15 pm when she was brought into the Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri by her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. According to a report by CNN-IBN, Rahul has been detained by the police for questioning.

 

Mumbai Police DCP Vikram Deshpande said, “The search is going on in the flat where apparently the prima facie suicide has taken place, EDR has been registered and we are doing investigation. It is too early to say the cause of the death.”

 

The actor’s parents reached Mumbai on Saturday. They will be taking Banerjee’s body after the autopsy is completed.

 

Mumbai police spokesperson Dhananjay Kulkarni said her body was found around 5 pm.

 

Her parents, who were in Jamshedpur took a flight to Mumbai soon after the news reached them, Banerjee’s co-actors told.

 

Her body was sent to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon for the post-mortem around midnight. An accidental death report (ADR) was registered at Bangurnagar police station.

 

The police will be relying on the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and only then will they be in a position to comment if any foul play is suspected.

 

Though the reason for this drastic step is not yet known, there are rumors that the 24-year-old was suffering from heartache over a failed love affair with Rahul, who recently participated with her in the reality show Power Couple.

 

CNN-IBN also spoke to a few neighbors, one of whom said, “We are all very shocked about this. Few days back only I met her and Rahul. They seemed absolutely fine, never thought anything of this kind. She seemed fine when I saw her.”

 

Meanwhile, insiders revealed that Pratyusha’s last Whatsapp status that read ‘Mar Ke Bhi Munh Na Tujse Modna’ was probably a hint about her impending suicide.
