Filmmaker Shahidul Islam Khokon dies

Noted filmmaker Shahidul Islam Khokon has died  due to a prolonged illness.

He breathed his last at a hospital in capital’s Uttara on Monday morning, family sources said.

The versatile director was suffering from a motor neuron disease for the last several years.

Khokon was taken to the United States in 2014 for better treatment but the doctors of Bellevue Hospital in New York sent him to country as there is no treatment of the disease.

Khokhon was the director of many commercially successful films like ‘Ghatok’, ‘Palabi Kothay’, ‘Lal Shobuj’, ‘Bhondo’, ‘Madam Phuli’, ‘Birpurush’, ‘Loraku’, ‘Biplob’, 'Top Rongbaj', 'Utthan Poton' and 'Bojromusthi'.
