Hathaway to promote women's rights

Anne Hathaway is famous for her acting career but she also puts a lot of work in to women’s rights and raising awareness on gender inequality.

The famous actress will join UN Women alongside other famous actresses that act on behalf of women’s rights such as Emma Watson and Nicole Kidman.

Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway is the latest celeb to join UN Women and has been chosen as the global goodwill ambassador.

The organisation promotes gender equality, something that Emma Watson has made many speeches on; it also aims to empower women.

Hathaway seems to be thrilled with her new role stating that she feels “honored and inspired by this opportunity to aid in advancing gender equality”.

Hathaway has very strong feelings towards gender equality and the way in which some women are treated and despairs that there are “Girls who are raped and afraid to tell anyone for fear of shame, being blamed or being branded as ‘unmarriageable’ by their families and community”.
