Kolkata International Film Festival to screen three Bangladeshi movies

Three Bangladeshi movies—Hawa, Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura, and JK 1971 - will be exhibited at the 28th annual Kolkata International Film Festival.

This year, the festival will take place from December 15 to December 22 where only 183 of the 1078 films from 42 different nations will be shown. 

Ten locations will host about 215 performances. ‘Abhimaan,’ a movie by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, will open the festival.

The main attendees of the opening are Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Kumar Sanu, Mahesh Bhatt, and Shatrughan Singha.

In addition, , a talk show titled ‘Language of New Age Cinema’ will take place on December 21 at the Bangla Academy Auditorium. 

Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, a filmmaker from Bangladesh, will take part in discussions with Raj Chakraborty, Manas Mukul Pal, Prasun Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, and Prasun Chatterjee.

This festival will also feature the documentary ‘Bangabandhu in Calcutta’ by well-known filmmaker Gautam Ghosh about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
