Mahiya Mahi sent to jail

A Gazipur court has sent actress Mahiya Mahi to jail in a case filed under Digital Security Act.

Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Iqbal Hussain's court passed the order on Saturday afternoon.

Mahi was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning in connection with two cases filed under the Digital Security Act.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) arrested the actress at 11:45 am after arriving in Dhaka from Saudi Arabia, according to GMP Commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam.

He said that a case was filed under the Digital Security Act against Mahiya Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarkar on Friday night for defaming the image of the police.

Apart from this, Ismail Hossain, son of Haji Nuru of Dighir Chala village in Gazipur metropolis filed another case against Mahi and her husband on the charge of land grabbing, the GMP commissioner added.
