Mahiya Mahi arrested on specific allegations: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said actress Mahiya Mahi has been arrested based on specific allegations.

The home chief made the comment while responding to questions from reporters after a function organised at Tejgaon in the capital on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birthday.

The Home Minister said, “I have heard that Mahi made some statements on Facebook Live against Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam. A case has been filed for this reason. I don't know everything; I have just heard the matter. Knowing this well I can make comment in this regard.”

When asked whether Mahi's complaint will be investigated or not, the home minister said, “When a complaint comes, an investigation has to be done. Everything will come into light after the investigation. The investigation will reveal whether Mahi's statement is correct or what the police did is also correct or not.”
