Madonna in intensive care due to 'serious bacterial infection'

Global popstar Madonna postponed her world tour as she was taken to a hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) with a serious bacterial infection, reports BBC.

She is believed to be receiving treatment at a hospital in New York City, US media reports.

The tour, titled 'Celebrations,' was due to start July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, but was postponed until further notice.

The tour also included cities such as Detroit, Chicago, Miami, and New York in the US. Other cities include London, Barcelona, Paris, and Mexico City.

"Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care," Madonna's manager Guy Oseary said. "A full recovery is expected."

The 64-year-old pop icon aimed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her breakout single, Holiday, by embarking on her first-ever greatest hits tour.
