Arrest warrant against Momtaz

West Bengal's Behrampur court has issued an arrest warrant against the popular folk singer and member of parliament Momtaz Begum in several cases, including breach of trust and fraud for not attending the event after taking money.

On Saturday, an arrest warrant was issued against Momtaz for the fourth time in a case filed 15 years ago.

Event organizer Shakti Shankar Bagchi filed a case against Momtaz in 2008.

He alleged that from 2004 to 2008, he had a written agreement with Momtaz to sing at various events. 

According to the contract, Momtaz was hired as the lead artiste in December 2008 at an event in Behrampur for Rs.14 lakh. But Momtaz did not attend the event even after taking the money. Later, Momtaz refused to pay the money back.

Shakti Shankar Bagchi also alleged that he repeatedly made visits to Dhaka to take money back from Momtaz but she avoided the matter.

Bagchi claimed to have called Momtaz 75,000 times over phone. He submitted all the phone details to the court.
