Zeenat Barkatullah passes away

Zeenat Barkatullah, Ekushey Padak winning dancer and television actress, has passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

She died of old-age complications at her own residence in the city's Dhanmondi area, said Zeenat’s daughter Bijori Barkatullah, who is also a noted television actress and dancer in the country.

Zeenat left behind two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.

Ekushey Padak, the second most important award for civilians in the country, was conferred to Barkatullah in 2022 for her outstanding contribution.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Zeenat Barkatullah.
