Actress Mahi gets 'Truck' symbol

Actress Mahia Mahi, independent candidate from the Rajshahi-1 constituency, has received the electoral symbol 'Truck' to run for the 12th National Parliament elections slated for January 7.

The symbol was allotted to her on Monday morning from the Rajshahi DC office.

The Election Commission started allocating electoral symbols to candidates on Monday. After getting symbols, candidates can continue their campaign till 8am on January 5.

Sunday was the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers across the country. At a press briefing after the deadline for withdrawal of candidacy ended, Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam said the number of candidates for the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections stood at 1,896.
