Tahsan Khan hints at retiring from music to embrace a normal life

Renowned Bangladeshi singer, songwriter, and actor Tahsan Khan has signalled his intention to step away from his music career for personal reasons, expressing a desire to return to a simpler, normal life. 

Having already distanced himself from acting, Tahsan is now contemplating concluding his 25-year musical journey.

Currently on a tour in Australia to celebrate his 25th career anniversary, Tahsan spoke to Daily Samakal via WhatsApp. 

"I’ve already stopped acting, and now it’s singing. Despite recovering from vocal cord issues, my decision to leave singing is entirely personal, and I’d rather not elaborate," he shared.

Reflecting on his Australian tour, Tahsan noted, "The tour has been wonderful, but the farewell moments of this final tour were emotional. I don’t want to dwell on making it memorable—I just want to return to a normal life."

Tahsan, a household name in Bangladesh, has captivated audiences for over two decades with his soulful music. Boasting around 10 million followers on Facebook and over 3.5 million on Instagram, he expressed gratitude to his fans, saying, "My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has welcomed me into their lives for so long."

The Australian tour, performed with his band, began in Adelaide on September 6, followed by shows in Brisbane (September 7), Sydney (September 13), Melbourne (September 20), and an upcoming performance in Perth on September 27. 

Addressing speculation about his career, Tahsan clarified at a recent concert, "Many are saying this is my last concert, but it’s actually my last tour. I may gradually step away from music—it’s a natural progression."

In a lighthearted moment, he quipped, "Can I keep jumping around on stage with this beard? My daughter has grown up. Singing something like ‘Dure Tumi Dariya’ now—how would that feel?"

Tahsan also reflected on his personal life, having recently married makeup artist Roza Ahmed this year, marking a new chapter. 

He hinted at the emotional weight of his performances, telling the Melbourne audience, "This night may be memorable for you, and I may not return here. I’ll miss you all."

Tahsan’s musical journey began in 1998 with the band Black, which revolutionised Bengali rock music. Formed by John Kabir, Jahan, and Tony, the band later welcomed Tahsan and Miraj. Their debut album, Amar Prithibi (2002), struck a chord with young listeners, cementing Tahsan’s place in Bangladesh’s music scene.
