Last tribute to theatre personality Ataur Rahman at Shaheed Minar

After the death of theatre personality Ataur Rahman, his body was brought to the Central Shaheed Minar premises at 3:25 pm after all the formalities at the hospital. 

People from all walks of life paid their last respects there. 

Meanwhile, prominent figures from the country's theatre, culture and art sectors gathered at the Shaheed Minar premises since before 3 pm.

Present at the event were many well-known faces from the cultural arena, including teachers from the Department of Drama of Jagannath University, teachers from the Department of Drama of Dhaka University. Actress Laisa Ahmed Lisa, theatre personality Lucky Inam, actor Tariq Anam Khan, actor Jitu Ahsan, musician Khairul Anam Shakil, cultural organisers Mofidul Haque, Asif Monir, Shankar Sanjal, Sara Zaker and many others paid tribute.

Not only on an individual level, various cultural and theatre organisations also paid tribute to the late theatre figure. 

Tributes were paid by Kanthoshilan, Chhayanaut, Abdullah Al-Mamun Theatre School, Udichi, Dhaka University's Department of Drama, Jagannath University's Department of Drama, Directors Guild, Actors' Association and Dhaka Theatre.

In an emotional atmosphere at the Shaheed Minar premises, colleagues, well-wishers, students and cultural activists paid their last respects to this beloved theatre personality. 

Many people recalled Ataur Rahman's contribution to the country's theatre and cultural arena and highlighted various aspects of his working life.

Ataur Rahman passed away on Monday night at a city hospital. Earlier, he was put on life support for his critical illness.
