Ayub Bachchu passes away

Legendary singer, guitarist, songwriter and composer Ayub Bacchu has passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 56 (Inna lillahi … raji'un).   

The founder of the country's one of the leading rock band LRB was found unconscious at his Moghbazar residence in the morning. Later, he was taken to Dhaka's Square Hospitals around 9:15am  where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.  

A physician of the hospital's emergency unit confirmed the news of his death to Samakal. 

Ayub Bachchu had died before he was taken to the hospital, said Square Hospitals physician Mirza Nazim adding that it is primarily assumed that he had a major heart attack.

Born in Chittagong, he started his music career there with the band Feelings in 1978. From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as lead guitarist.

In 1991, he formed his own band LRB, where he played a role as lead guitarist and vocal.
