Court accepted chargesheet against Pori Moni

A Dhaka court has accepted charges against film actress Pori Moni and her two aides - Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain - in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order on Monday after scrutinising the case dockets and other relevant documents.

The court also set December 14 for hearing on charge framing against the three in the case.

The court's public prosecutor (PP) Tapas Kumar Pal confirmed the information to the media.

On October 4, Kazi Golam Mostafa, Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.

Elite force, Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni and Dipu on August 4 and seized alcohol and narcotics from her residence.

Later, a case was filed under Narcotics Control Act with Banani Police Station and the two were shown arrested in the case. Kabir was also shown arrested in the same case.

Pori Moni was put on remand in several phases and she was sent to jail.

However, on September 1, Pori Moni was released from jail on ad-interim bail.
