Generation Z, popularly known as Gen Z, has an excellent opportunity in Bangladesh to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping their future that is often called “digital first” and “technoholic”. Since businesses globally rely on artificial intelligence (AI), young people here should use it wisely for improving their education, skills, and job opportunities as well. How can they do that?
Research by Corey Seemiller and Meghan Grace has discovered that Generation Z members prefer hybrid learning methods than traditional text-based ones. These hybrid learning styles entail the use of technology alongside multimedia content like images, videos, and music. This context allows for personalised learning experiences, rapid feedback as well as access to a rich variety of educational resources through AI-based tools. For instance, AI-based language learning programmes may help Generation Z individuals improve their English skills which are vital in accessing global opportunities.
AI-powered tutoring systems may potentially teach pupils future skills like data analysis, coding, and digital marketing. Generation Z students find it easier to understand complex concepts when learning is made more engaging and personalised. This survey matches Joe Mosca and Kevin P. Curtis' findings that 98.5% of students from 133 universities believe films bring real-world events to life. As such, AI-rich video-based learning tools are likely to work well with Generation Z in Bangladesh. Since artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming businesses worldwide, it becomes imperative for Generation Z in Bangladesh to learn to adjust to the times and be fit for the modern labour force.
According to statistics, forty percent of firms globally have applied AI in their operations among which are 333.34 million companies. Hence over 266 million companies are either researching or employing AI technology within their systems. The global market value for AI is projected to exceed $1.85 trillion by 2030 further necessitating demand for individuals who possess such abilities.
AI has the capability to automatically perform similar tasks repetitively so that humans can use their minds on more demanding jobs among those requiring creativity or logical thinking. For example, AI-enabled inspection systems may identify defects in fabrics or stitching thereby enhancing production fluidity and curbing wastage. Banking sector has AI-powered chatbots that provide 24/7 services to customers like query concerning accounts, transactions and financial advices. Consequently, this increases an organisation’s customer satisfaction while reducing operational costs.
E-commerce platforms as in the illustration of Daraz for Bangladesh can use artificial intelligence to analyse customer behaviour and recommend products so that users are provided with improved experience and increased sales. There is also a possibility for development of Bengali speech-to-text and text-to-speech apps through AI technology which will make communication easier for blind people and those having difficulties in typing.
Although it has some advantages, Bangladesh needs to address various obstacles in order to make use of artificial intelligence. There are many remote places where internet connection is not always available making it impossible for the application of AI. Sectors that do not have this support infrastructure cannot 100 percent gain from AI implementation. Additionally, small, and medium enterprises may find it difficult to invest in AI technology because of the high startup costs and therefore lose capacities for competition against international companies.
Another problem is that there are not enough people with talent. If there are not many AI and machine learning experts in Bangladesh, then this might slow the adoption of AI in healthcare, education, and finance mechanisms. Bangladesh might need to provide AI and data science degrees through its universities if they want to have specialists in this area. This will help solve the problem. Collaborations with global players can hasten knowledge transfer and capacity consolidation.
As the use of artificial intelligence continues to grow in businesses and societies, ethical considerations must come first. By applying biased historical data, artificial intelligence systems especially used in financial services can unintentionally perpetuate stereotypes. This might lead to discriminatory lending practices or customer treatment. The development of AI ethical standards stressing on transparency, equity and accountability is recommended for Bangladeshi firms in order to mitigate any potential risks. Regular auditing of AI systems would help prevent any biases as well as privacy concerns among users.
One way in which the government can do this is by devising a comprehensive national artificial intelligence (AI) strategy that emphasises both building up relevant infrastructure and education programmes to produce skilled man power in AI as well as regulatory mechanisms for ensuring its ethical use. There could be collaboration between government, industry, and universities to create centres for AI research; these would focus on addressing Bangladesh’s specific needs through research on developing appropriate AI solutions like enhancing food security or improving disaster management systems.
For successful usage of artificial intelligence, Generation Z members in Bangladesh should focus on technical skills, domain knowledge and soft skills. Programming languages like Python should be well understood alongside machine learning methods and different AI tools as platforms to know about. Additionally, if they have some knowledge about ethical concerns that come along with AI use in their field then they will have an edge over their competitors as well as knowing Bangla speech processing.
Soft skills such as problem-solving skills, creativity, communication, and critical thinking abilities are other important skills that one should have. They can take online courses and get certificates, as well as participate in hackathons or online Game Art communities regarding artificial intelligence which is a way of sustaining education.
By focusing on these areas, members of Generation Z in Bangladesh will be able to harness the power of AI within themselves which can boost their professional growth and the overall development of the nation. The opportunities that AI offers are vast and are only waiting to be taken by the people willing to take them as it continues to grow.
