Amir Khasru asks BNP men to list 'overzealous' policemen

BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has directed BNP leaders and workers to list the 'overzealous' policemen.

He gave this instruction at a press conference organized at Chittagong city BNP office at 11 o'clock on Thursday.

Addressing the party leaders and workers, Amir Khasru said, “Police is listing BNP leaders and workers. You make a list of some overzealous police members and Awami League ‘terrorists’.”

Commenting that the image of the entire force is being tarnished because of some policemen, he further said, "Re-read the oath taken by overzealous policemen while joining the service. Read the constitution of Bangladesh again.”

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also expressed his gratitude to the leaders and workers of BNP for making the public meeting a success last Wednesday at Polo Ground in Chittagong, ignoring the obstacles and attacks.

Amir Khasru said ‘terrorists’ of Awami and Jubo League attacked BNP leaders and workers on the way to the rally. Some enthusiastic members of the police joined them. The day before the rally, the police conducted house-to-house searches of BNP leaders and workers. About half a hundred leaders and activists were arrested.

He warned to stop these.

BNP Vice Chairman Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Adviser to Party Chairperson Zainal Abedin, Central Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, City BNP Convener Shahadat Hossain, Member Secretary Abul Hashem and others were present in the press conference.

Chittagong BNP held a divisional mass meeting to demand the increase in the prices of daily commodities, the killing of activists by the police and the release of Khaleda Zia. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke at the rally as the chief guest.
