HC extends Khaleda Zia's bail in two defamation cases

The High Court has extended its earlier orders that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two defamation cases until its disposals at the trial courts.

The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam passed the extension orders on Monday.

Earlier in the day, two separate prayers moved by Khaleda Zia's lawyers were placed before the court.

Defamation lawsuits were filed against BNP leader in Dhaka and Narail on several dates in 2014 and 2015 for her remarks regarding Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Liberation War, and the number of martyrs on various occasions.

Khaleda Zia's bail in the cases was extended by the HC on September 28 of last year for a year.

Lawyers Kayser Kamal and AHM Kamruzzaman Mamun appeared for Khaleda Zia.
