10 injured in Sunamganj AL factional clash

At least 10 people were injured in the factional clash between the two groups at the Awami League conference on Monday at the BADC ground in Sunamganj's Dirai upazila.

Awami League presidium member Nurul Islam Nahid, organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain and senior leaders including district president, secretary were present on the conference stage.

Shortly after the conference began, supporters of both sides were embroiled in controversy. At one stage of the argument, they started throwing bricks to each other.

Even the angry activists started throwing stones at the leaders present on the stage. The leaders of Awami League saved themselves from injuries by putting plastic chairs on their heads.

In this regard, Awami League's organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain said, “Those who did this act are not members of Awami League. BNP agents are involved in this clash.”
