Sylhet BNP rally begins

Thousands of BNP activists have converged on the Alia Madrasa grounds in Sylhet's Chowhatta district before the event even starts. This rally formally started at 11 am on Saturday.

BNP members have been marching toward the area while shouting slogans and waving placards since the break of morning.

Our Sylhet correspondent reports that the BNP has completed all of its rally preparations.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other central leaders arrived in Sylhet last night, serving as the event's chief guests.

A bus strike is going on in four districts of the division, including Sylhet, centered around the rally. Although the buses are stopped, activists are appearing in the rally through alternative means.
BNP is holding this rally in Sylhet to protest against the increase in the price of daily commodities and fuel, the death of activists in police firing and the release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and elections under a non-partisan government.
