BNP leaders Aman, Salam and Khokon picked up

Police have detained BNP's Dhaka City (North) BNP Convener Amanullah Aman, Dhaka City (South) Convener Abdus Salam and party's Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon from the Naya Paltan office of BNP.

Party sources said that the BNP leaders were picked up on Wednesday afternoon.

BNP men clashed with police in front of the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan, where party members gathered since the morning ahead of the rally to be held on December 10.

Hundreds of BNP members were seen shouting slogans and waving banners in front of the party's headquarters, ignoring orders from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) that the party could not organize a rally on the city's congested streets.

Around 3pm, the police fired tear shells to disperse the crowd.

A man named Maqbul Hossain was killed in a police clash with BNP men in front of BNP office.

Later, a police team entered the party's central office and conducted raid.

At that time, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were held by law enforcers.

Witnesses said they have seen law enforcers pick up Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of BNP, from the party's Nayapaltan office around 5:20pm and taken to a prison van there.

Meanwhile, police claimed that they went to BNP office on information of ‘storing crude bombs’.
