Mirza Fakhrul calls press conference

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called a press conference at BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan at 3 pm on Thursday.

Party sources said the BNP leader will talk about the ongoing situation and the clash of BNP leaders and activists with the police in Naya Paltan that left a man dead and over 50 party men injured.

Fakhrul was barred from going to the party's Naya Paltan office on Thursday morning.

This incident happened around 11:15 am.

At that time, Fakhrul said to the policemen, "I can't go to my office? How is this?' The policeman was heard saying, 'Sorry sir, you are not allowed to go to the BNP office."

A huge number of police personnel were employed in front of BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan in the city on Thursday following police-BNP men clash that left one man dead.

They put barricades on the roads as well as all the alleyways leading to Naya Paltan. 

Later, Fakhrul told the journalists present there, 'I was not allowed to go to the party office.

Alleging that there is a conspiracy to destroy democracy, he said, "There is a conspiracy to destroy the BNP's December 10 rally, to destroy democracy.".
