Boat operation closed in Buriganga river

Boat operation in Buriganga river has been kept closed since Saturday morning due to BNP's rally in Dhaka.

The operation of boats from 10 to 15 river ghats, including Kholamora Ghat, Mandail Masjid Ghat, Jinjira Ferry Ghat, Banshpatti Ghat, Aganagar Bridge Ghat, Kaliganj Ghat, Tel Ghat, Konda Ghat, have been completely kept closed from Basila Bridge, the south end of Mohammadpur in the city. 

As a result, businessmen and common people have been suffering much.

Talking to the boatmen, it is known that many are angry as they are deprived of livelihood due to the closure of the boat operation.

While asked, Sadarghat clothing trader Monir Hossain said, “We are not associated with any political party. I can't go to business establishments.”

Delwar Hossain, a boatman, expressed his anger as saying, “Hundreds of boats are stopped under the guidance of Keraniganj leaders. Now who will give me the income that I used to earn in a day. We are just the victims. There is no one to see us.”
