BNP calls for countrywide sit-in protest on Jan 11

 BNP will stage a sit-in protest on January 11 for four hours in all the divisional headquarters including Dhaka.

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain made the announcement on Friday after mass procession.

He said the mass procession turned into a sea of people as tens of thousands of party leaders and activists took to the street demanding 10 points.

"Through a general uprising, this regime will be overthrown. Attacks alone would not be able to halt our movement," he said.

BNP leaders, activists have thronged in front of their party office in Naya Paltan on Friday.

Since the morning, BNP men are converging on Naya Paltan in small groups to participate in the large procession.

They were carrying signs and posters calling for the release of prominent central figures who have been detained since the event on December 10.

Police were stationed throughout the neighborhood in the meantime to prevent any undesirable situations.

The mass march of like-minded political parties including BNP has been arranged to realize 10-point demands including the resignation of the current government, national elections under a non-partisan and impartial government.
