Strong opposition party needed to save democracy: Obaidul Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that a strong opposition party is needed in the country to save democracy.

He said, “There are no good people in politics, we could not make politics interesting. The reputation of student politics has been lost. If politics is in the hands of bad people, the country will become bad. Good, honest and talented people should be brought into politics, otherwise politics will become characterless.”

Obaidul Quader made the observation in his address as chief guest at the tri-annual council session of the Jatiya Party at the Engineers Institute auditorium in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

He further said, "There is no alternative to Sheikh Hasina on the stage of power to save the development of this country. To save Bangladesh, the spirit of Bangladesh's liberation war must be saved. If we want to save Bangladesh, we have to save the democracy of Bangladesh. To consolidate the victory, the spirit of the liberation war must be uphold.”

At this time, the general secretary of Awami League urged everyone to unite against sectarianism and militancy.
